项目摘要

本年度は、まず第一に、市島春城が遺した膨大な史料について、早稲田大学図書館所蔵の資料を中心に、目録作成を引き続き行った。ただし、本来研究補助者として雇用する予定であった人物が、妊娠・出産を迎えてしまったために、雇用することができなくなり、そのため、研究代表者が一人で入力作業を行わざるをえず、進度については、若干遅れ気味となってしまった（またその分、補助金額も少し多く残ってしまった）。次年度については、既に雇用を内諾している研究補助者がいるために、今年度活用できなかった分も含めて、完成に向けた作業を進めたいと考えている。また以上の目録入力作業を行う一方で、市島が関与した諸活動についての考察を深めるために、関連する諸種の図書資料を購入して検討する作業も行った。この点について、最大の成果といえるのは『早稲田大学百五十年史』第一巻の刊行である。個人の著作物ではないが、研究代表者の執筆部分はもちろん、それ以外の部分においても資料情報を提供することによって、記述に大きく本研究によって得た知見を反映させることができた。このほか、佐賀市主催の大隈祭にて、「大正時代の"大隈ブーム"―新時代の幕開け―」と題する講演をおこなって、研究成果の一部を社会に還元することができた。その講演内容は『早稲田大学史記要』にて活字化されたほか、小林和幸編『思想史講義明治編Ⅰ』（ちくま新書）に「自由民権」と題する論考を、小林和幸編『東京10大学の150年史』（筑摩選書）に「早稲田大学一五〇年史」と題する論考を発表し、本研究による成果の一部を盛り込むことができた。
