本研究は、私人墓壁画の図像と銘文の分析を通じて、エジプト古王国時代の女性たちに期待された役割や社会的地位とその変化などについて検討するとともに、古王国時代の家族観や家族制度の変化を、階層分化などの社会の変化との関わりの中で考察しようとするものである。今年度も海外での調査ができなかったため、以前に実施した現地調査で得られた資料と、発掘報告書等で公開されている資料を用いて研究を進めた。今年度は本研究の中心的課題である女性像のほか、男性の家族や親族、従者などの図像や銘文にも着目し、研究を進めた。現地での壁画調査の際に収集した資料を用いた研究成果の一部を、「私人墓におけるグラフィティあるいは付加銘文―エジプト古王国時代のイイメリの墓を例に―」として『資料学の方法を探る』（愛媛大学「資料学」研究会発行）第22号にて発表した。本論文は墓壁画の人物像に付加された銘文に焦点を当て、その意味や目的を探ったものである。また、同じく収集した墓壁画資料を一部用いて、所属機関の主催する講演会にて講演（「工房図と職人の世界」オンライン開催）を行った。これらの研究成果は、本研究の主題である女性像研究から派生・発展したものだが、これらの課題に取り組むことで、女性の役割や墓壁画に登場する女性図像の意味を総合的に考察することが可能になると確信している。本年度も、メソポタミア史やギリシア・ローマ史、考古学、建築史など他分野の研究者とともにオンラインにて研究会（古代ジェンダー史研究会）を定期的に行ってきた。当研究会では、毎回さまざまな分野の専門家による研究報告と議論が行われており、特に考古学・歴史学や図像学などの新たな研究成果や、ジェンダー史の視角や方法論など、本研究にとって有益な情報を得る貴重な機会となっている。
