当該年度は、ケアの倫理やケアのデモクラシーに関する研究だけでなく、トクヴィルをはじめとする近現代以降の西洋政治思想に関する研究を行い、前者の視点から後者の批判的考察を行った。現代においても、トクヴィルらによって体系化されたデモクラシー理論の有効性は失われていない。それはいわばデモクラシーにおける「正論」であり、これを否定した場合、モラル・ハザードが生じる恐れがある。一方で、トクヴィルらのデモクラシー理論は、市民像を限定的に理解して、結果的にある種の排除が発生している。そのため、トクヴィルらのデモクラシー理論を全体としては肯定しながらも、それを修正する必要性がある。それを可能にするのが「協働」という概念であり、「協働」を媒介として、トクヴィル型デモクラシー理論とケアのデモクラシー論を統合することを検討する必要がある。トクヴィル型デモクラシー理論における「協働」は、市民による自治として現れる。対して、ケアの倫理やケアのデモクラシーにおける「協働」は、ケアという形で現れる。これらはいずれも、過剰に拡大している資本主義的価値観に対する警戒感に基づいており、この意識の共有によってこれらの統合が可能になる。当該年度は、上記の研究内容をまとめ、「ケアの倫理に基づくトクヴィル型政治思想の再検討」『政経研究』第59巻第3・4号（2023年）という論文として明らかにすることができた。
