４年次の研究では、昭和23年７月に発表された兵庫師範学校女子部附属幼稚園における「明石附幼プラン」の特質とその歴史的意義について明らかにすることを目的とした。研究の結果、明らかとなったのは次の２点である。(1)「明石附幼プラン」は、これまで、コア・カリキュラムの考え方に学んだ幼稚園カリキュラムの先駆として注目されてきた。しかし、本研究で検討した結果、同プランの単元と経験内容（「楽しい幼児の生活」）には、コア・カリキュラムから得た知見だけでなく、同園において開発された戦前の「生活単位ノ保育カリキュラム」及び昭和22年度の生活単元保育案を基礎とした点が確認された。同プランの歴史的意義は、コア・カリキュラムの考え方を援用したことに留まらず、戦前・終戦直後期の生活単元保育計画を基礎としつつ、生活単元保育計画から幼稚園生活全体の「総合計画」へと転換していくことを試みた先駆事例であったことにある。(2)「明石附幼プラン」の単元内容構成については、社会機能別単元と年中行事・季節的なことを折衷したものと批判されてきた。この批判は、同プランがコア・カリキュラムの構成法に立脚した幼稚園カリキュラムであることを前提になされたものであったが、実際のプランでは、コア・カリキュラムの構成法によって「能力」を分析するという方法は採られなかった。同プランの単元は、①近郊での社会観察とその模倣遊び、②自然観察・自然体験に基づく生活活動（飼育栽培活動）や製作遊び、③季節的な遊びとその探究活動（遊び道具の製作や相談）、④発達段階を考慮した集団遊びや協同遊び、⑤時機を捉えた生活問題や年中行事、⑥以上の過程における表現活動（唱歌・遊戯・リズム）や談話・話し合い等の活動から成り立っており、わが国の伝統的な保育内容構成方法を礎としていたことが解明された。
