第22回いばらき児童生徒地図作品展及びその入賞作品紹介動画等を完成させ公開した。また作品展報告冊子（作品紹介および地図作品づくりの指導・支援手引き）を刊行した。報告書は県内社会科教育研究部会各郡支部長を始めとする社会科関係者や県内各市町村教育委員会のほか、県庁関連部局他に配付した。また地図作品展の取り組みや地図と地理教育に関して一般向けに講演した。こうした学校教育外への発信によって、児童生徒による地図作品が学習教材としてばかりでなく、地域資料としての価値があることを見いだすことができた。第23回いばらき児童生徒地図作品展を3年ぶりに通常開催し、表彰式を開催した。式後に優秀作品までの作成者および教育学部学生による作品紹介を行った。学生に作品講評の作成をさせたり、地図作品展の運営に関わらせたりすることによって、教員養成課程における地図活用の意義の理解と基本技能の習得の重要性を確認できた。また、作品展の小中学生応募作品を分析した。学習指導要領改訂の影響が小中学生の応募数や内容に少なからず影響を与えており、改訂における地図や地域調査の扱いの課題が浮き彫りになった。教員養成課程の指導法科目において地図活用について重点的にとりあげるとともに、野外調査活動を含む地域調査を実施した。読図による地域把握やルート検討をグループで行った上での野外調査の成果ならびに野外調査体験の効果について確認することができた。地域かるたを活用した地域学習の小学校での実践を支援した。紙地図ばかりでなくグーグルアースなどとの併用により地域への関心や理解を深めることが確認できた。上記の研究成果の一部を論考にまとめ発表した。
