令和3年度までに，アリの活動全般を網羅する行動モデルの構成として，役割ごとの行動モデルは，役割に依存しない基底行動と役割ごとの独自行動の組み合わせによって成り立っているとしたが，この行動モデル構築やシミュレーションについては進展させることができなかった。一方で，アリの行動を記録するシステムの構築を進めることができた。種々のアリの生態に関する情報を収集し，巣内部でのアリの行動を記録するのに適した巣の構造を考案し，設計・製作した。また，アリに貼り付ける1[mm]×1[mm]サイズマーカの製作とそれをカメラで検出できることも確認した。また，作業中にアリを逃がさないように簡易グローブボックスも設計・製作している。なお，実際に女王アリを含むアリを入手し，製作した巣で飼育しているが，現時点では働きアリが2匹と少ないため実験を進める前にアリを増やす必要がある。ロボットは，直接フェロモンコミュニケーションによる情報交換のための構造を考案していたが，これを実際に試作し計測系としての確認実験を実施した。この計測系は，分泌するフェロモンをフルカラーLEDの色で，その色をカラーセンサで計測することで他のロボットが分泌しているフェロモン情報を得ようというものである。この実験の結果，設計した構造では発光部とセンサの相対的な位置により検出値が大きく変化してしまうことがわかった。これについては，今後改良することとしている。
