本研究では発達特性が多様な脳機能を平均値で評価するのではなく，認知などの脳機能の個人値変動（Longitudinal values）を使って，脳振盪後の回復過程における脳機能評価の縦断的検討を行い，脳振盪回復期の評価の信頼性と妥当性について明らかにすることを目的とする．2020年度は2019年度に決定した対象集団に対して、脳のストレスホルモンについて縦断的評価測定を実施することを予定していた。しかし、新型コロナウイルスの感染拡大の影響を受け、研究を継続するための体制を整えることが出来なかった。緊急事態宣言が繰り返されたため、研究対象者のスポーツ活動が中断してしまい、また脳機能測定の調整が困難となった。また研究の実施者も、感染拡大による本務業務の混乱などから研究エフォートを確保することが困難になり、計画していた脳のストレスホルモンの測定等を進めることが出来なかった。　2019年に衝突系競技の対象者を対象に実施した、脳振盪の既往の有無に関する調査と、脳機能の前庭機能の評価項目として近点輻輳距離（Near pointconvergence）と重心動揺の測定、さらにそれぞれの項目に影響を与える可能性のある視機能評価や足部を中心とした機能的安定性の調査などの断面調査の結果を、2020横浜国際スポーツ学術会議にて発表を行った。ラグビーフットボール競技者の脳振盪既往歴と視機能と平衡機能の関係について、探索的に検討した結果、近点輻輳距離は脳振盪受傷後の少なくとも3カ月期間は、姿勢制御に影響を残している可能性が示唆された。
