本研究では、知的障害者のサルコペニア予防に向けて、①成人知的障害者の筋機能の個人差の要因を明らかにすること、②その結果に基づいて、成人知的障害者向けに、福祉現場でも応用可能な介入プログラムを開発することを目的としている。成人知的障害者の筋機能の個人差の要因の解明[研究①]に取り組む計画であり、現在も引き続き進行中である。当初の計画では、知的障害のある成人の測定、および知的障害のない成人の測定を実施し、大人数のデータ取得を目指す予定であった。2022年度は、国内において新型コロナウイルス感染症（COVID-19）の拡がりが一段とます一方で、社会活動の再開が見られつつあった。しかしながら、本研究で対象とする知的障害のある方の場合、重症化のリスクが高い集団として挙げられていることに加え、生活環境の都合上、クラスターが各地で発生したこともあり、研究遂行上の難しさがあった。結果として測定実施が困難であった。2022年度もデータの取得を見送らざるを得なかったが、残された研究期間内で円滑に研究を進めることができるよう、研究①で用いる、超音波法を用いた筋内の非収縮組織の割合（筋輝度）の評価について、所属機関内の知的障害のない成人を対象にし、測定精度を上げるためのトレーニングに取り組んだ。また、福祉現場でも応用可能な介入プログラムの開発 [研究②] に向けて、所属機関内の知的障害のない成人を対象にし、介入プログラムの検討や運動方法（動作、負荷強度）について検討した。
