内陸部からの海洋ごみ発生抑制に向けて、ソーシャルライセンス（社会的営業免許）の観点から主に河川におけるごみの調査とその削減に向けた国内外の取り組み事例の調査を積極的に実施している（なお、聞き取り調査については新型コロナウイルス感染症の拡大を受けて、引き続きオンラインも併用して実施した）。国内においては、前年度に引き続き、全国初のレジ袋使用禁止条例を制定した京都府亀岡市をはじめ、流域連携のもと海洋環境の保全に取り組む北海道網走市などを中心に、自治体や地域住民の取り組みを調査するとともに、全国川ごみネットワークなど全国のNPOなどで構成されるプラットフォーム型の組織における内陸部からの海洋ごみの発生抑制に向けた取り組みを関係者への聞き取り調査を中心におこっている。特に今年度は、北海道網走市ほかを流れる網走川流域において、プラスチックごみ対策をきっかけとして始まった流域連携による環境保全や、その基盤となった漁業者の取り組みの調査を重点的に行い、貴重な資料を得ることができた。また、国外については、新型コロナウイルス感染症の拡大により、現地調査の実施は見合わせているが、オンラインでアメリカ・ニューヨーク市における使い捨てプラスチック対策についてNGOへの聞き取り調査を引き続き実施した。ニューヨーク市では、小学校での取り組みをきっかけに、発泡スチロールトレイが使用禁止が実現したがその過程においてNGOが果たした役割を引き続き調査するとともに、ニューヨーク市の廃棄物削減の最新の政策展開について調査を行っている。一連の研究成果については、環境経済政策学会や国連環境計画（UNEP）のワークショップ等で報告した。また学術誌等に論文計3本を投稿するなど、成果の公表につとめた。なお、最新の研究成果についても順次学会報告を行う。

In addition, foreign countries have been involved in the development of new types of HIV infection, and the implementation of local investigations has been carried out in conjunction with the implementation of local investigations. The latest policy on waste reduction in cities and primary schools is carried out in the process of implementing the prohibition on the use of waste. A series of research results were reported by the Environmental Policy Institute and the United Nations Environment Program (UNEP).
