研究課題名「民泊の生活体験型観光の規模と運営に関する研究ーイタリア　アルベルゴディフーゾを基に」として、イタリアのアルベルゴディフーゾという過疎対策の集落規模の民泊の研究として科研費の許可が下りた2019年に、イタリア北部の４箇所の研究対象地域に現地調査を行い、それまでの調査を合わせて論文とし、2022年７月に日本建築学会の投稿論文として投稿したが、２０２２年１２月に再査読となり、2023年２月に修正して再査読論文として再投稿している。2020年度から2022年度はコロナ禍により海外渡航が大学から止められており、その間は上記のようにこれまでの調査を論文としてまとめている。しかし、調査は限定的であり、研究費も来年度に繰り越せることがわかったため、2023年度に集中して調査を行うことが必要である。そのような中で、日本でも過疎対策の集落規模の民泊の取り組みが増えてきたため、準備的に幾つかの地域の取り組みを訪れ、イタリアでのそれとの共通点と異なる点を検証している。訪れたのは、丹波篠山（兵庫県）、出雲（島根県）、伊賀（三重県）、佐原（千葉県）、小菅村（山梨県）のNIPPONIAと、矢掛町（岡山）のアルベルゴディフーゾジャパン、小値賀島（長崎県）、大津（滋賀県）の講 大津百町等である。そのように、イタリアと日本とで民泊の調査を行い研究をまとめているうちに、どういったところが地域再生のポイントとなるのかが見えてきつつあり、さらに対象の精緻化を検討している。
