项目摘要

本研究は、東アジア仏教的視座から中世日本葬礼史とその文化の再検討を行うものである。このため、同時代の中国・宋代や韓国・高麗時代における仏教の葬送・追善儀礼に関する文物資料を調査・収集して、その実態解明を行い、比較資料を提示することを主目的とする。今年度は、まず南宋墓塔の影響が考えられる泉涌寺開山俊ジョウ（1166-1227）の石塔（無縫塔）、さらにその形式を継承する泉涌寺歴代長老の石塔（一部）の基礎調査を実施した。また、佐賀・石塔院の五輪塔・宝篋印塔群（鎌倉後期～室町時代）の調査および資料収集を行った。同院近隣の東妙寺（西大寺流）では「東妙寺并妙法寺境内図」（鎌倉～南北朝）の聞き取り調査を行い、南宋仏教の影響によって変容した寺院生活や仏道実践の一実態を収集することができた。さらに、同県小城市に流布する大陸（明清代）風石仏および関連資料の収集も行った。葬送・追善文化研究の一環として、以下の論考の公刊と口頭発表を行った。釈迦追慕の儀礼として鎌倉時代に流行する涅槃会が南宋の影響下で展開すること（明恵撰『涅槃講式』成立の背景」）、宋代において羅漢は追善儀礼の本尊としても機能したが、その流行背景には呉越国の存在があること（「天台山石橋五百羅漢と賛寧」）、泉涌寺流の盂蘭盆会の仏具・資具や供養儀礼（供茶・献花）では「唐物」やその模倣品が用いられていたこと（「泉涌寺における唐物の受容」「羅漢図から見る僧院生活」「泉涌寺流における茶・花」「鎌倉時代の寺院生活」）、そして、そのような資具・文化が同時代の諸寺院で受容されたこと（「泉涌寺の諸儀礼から読み解く中世仏教の姿」）、鎌倉初期天皇家の葬送の「場」として機能した泉涌寺（「俊ジョウ：承久の乱と泉涌寺」）などを公表した。
