本研究は、外国人留学生（中国出身の中上級日本語学習者）と友人日本人大学生の接触場面雑談会話（２者間）における、両者の（１）母語・文化及び個別規範の解明、（２）規範変容の実態の解明を目的とする。具体的には、接触場面における外国人留学生（中国出身の中上級日本語学習者）とその友人日本人大学生の会話収録、フォローアップインタビュー（以下FIとする）を横断的に行い、接触場面で違和感や誤解などの問題が起こった際に、それらの背後にある両者の規範を、母語、文化別、及び個別の観点から解明する。さらに、両者の会話収録、FIを縦断的に実施することで、その規範の変化の実態を解明する。これらの調査を通じて、異文化接触の場面で起こる様々な違和感・誤解などの問題の根底にある規範はどのようなものであり、またその規範は変容するのかといった、増加する在留外国人との共生のあり方を考える上での重要な課題に示唆を与える基礎研究となることを目指す。2022年度は、縦断調査の２回目を行った。また、横断調査結果の分析を進め、論文「中国人留学生の「聞き手行動」規範－友人日本人大学（院）生との接触場面会話およびフォローアップ・インタビューから－」（『志學館大学人間関係学部研究紀要』, 第44巻）を執筆した。
