项目摘要

新型コロナウイルス拡大によってデータ収集が当初予定より大幅に遅れた。そのためやや研究計画の方向性を修正し、当初予定のテキスト分析に加えて、世論調査を利用した有権者側のメディア接触と政治的態度の分極化の関係性の関する研究に着手した。当該研究については進展があった。世論調査の分析から有権者がインターネットから自身の政治的態度に合致する情報を比較的多く受け取っていることが判明し、インターネットの普及が政治の分極化をもたらすメカニズムについて一定の証拠が得られた。ただし同時に、現代においても政治情報の主要な情報源はテレビや新聞でありインターネットのプレゼンスは相対的には小さいこと、政治態度の分極化が大きいのはむしろ高齢の有権者であることも明らかになった。これらの研究成果を2回、国内学会で発表する機会を得た。また今年度途中からデータ収集状況も改善しため、事前の計画にしたがって、テキスト分析によるメディアの分極化の検証も再開した。データの収集が進んだ「原発再稼働」と「共謀罪/テロ等準備法案」の記事の分極化度を、機械学習のひとつであるランダムフォレストによって推定したところ、当初の予測通り朝日新聞と産経新聞の間の分極度が最も大きくなり、読売新聞と日経新聞はその中間にあることが確認できた。ただし利用する機械学習の種類やハイパーパラメータのチューニングによって、得られる数値の変動がかなり大きいことも判明し、再現性のある分析結果のためにはさらなる改良が必要である。
