申請者の課題関心は、日清戦争後の中国における日本女子教育情報の経路の研究である。本研究では、日清戦争後に、中国語に翻訳された『新選家政学』（原作下田歌子　1901年）に着目し、その女子教育情報がいかにして中国へもたらされ、中国はその情報をどのように受容したのか、すなわち、その経路に交わる「ヒト」「モノ」の動きを明らかにすることである。それらの作業を通して、日中の女子教育に対する相互認識を浮き彫りし、当時の日中関係史の更なる解明を目指している。初年度は、『新選家政学』が中国語に翻訳された経緯を分析し、その成果を学会発表した。発表で得られた意見を基に、2年目は主に史料等の読み直し作業をしながら論文の作成に努めた。その成果を、九州大学の『教育基礎学研究』（第18号）に投稿し掲載されました。3年目の計画として中国現地での史・資料収集を予定していたが、新型コロナウイルス感染症の蔓延で、中国の出入国に関しては厳しい対策を取っているため、計画を修正し、史料の読み直し作業をした。その作業を通して、下田の『新選家政学』は、当時の中国に4つの訳書があり、出版社もそれぞれであったが、その中の1冊が再版を重ねていたことが分かった。2022年度こそ現地での史・資料収集を予定していたが、中国の「ゼロコロナ」政策によるまちの封鎖などを行い、より厳しい対策を取っているため、計画を余儀なく修正された。代わりに、実践女子大学図書館や下田歌子研究所等で、新たな活字史・資料を可能な限り購入・収集した。
