令和4年度は、当初4年計画だった本研究を1年延長したため5年目となる。今年度は研究代表者が奈良文化財研究所から同じ（独）国立文化財機構の組織である京都国立博物館に異動となった。本研究は奈文研が所蔵している瓦資料や発掘調査報告書などの文献資料を基盤としているため、これまでの研究方針を大きく変更する必要が生じた。特に奈文研が所蔵する日高山瓦窯出土資料の整理に関しては、ほとんど進めることができなかった。また本務の業務内容も大きく変わったため、これに対応する必要があり、科研に時間を割くことが難しかった。このように研究環境に大きな変化が生じたため、順調とは言い難い状況である。それでも可能な限り研究を進め、以下のような成果をあげることができた。①これまでの研究成果を一般に向けて広く公開するよう努めた。まず、昨年度の研究成果である「変形忍冬唐草文軒平瓦6647Cの再検討」について、飛鳥資料館の令和4年度冬季企画展「飛鳥の考古学2022」で関連展示がおこなわれた。それに合わせて展示図録で一般向けに分かりやすく解説をおこなった。加えて博物館に異動となり、平安京の瓦窯出土の鴟尾の調査をおこなう機会を得た。その成果を京博の市民向け講座である土曜講座のなかで報告した。②京博に寄託された上庄田瓦窯と栗栖野瓦窯出土の鴟尾について、SfM-VMSを用いた3次元計測をおこなった。両者はともに平安京の瓦窯である。平安京の瓦窯は、当初の研究計画では対象としていなかったが、都城の瓦生産を通史的に理解するうえでも重要である。また、3次元計測手法を導入できたことも今後瓦の研究を進めるうえでも有効だと考えている。なお成果は、R5年度に京博の学術誌『学叢』で報告する。③去年度発表した「変形忍冬唐草文軒平瓦6647Cの再検討」をうけて、瓦当面に表出された木笵の木目痕に注目した報告をおこなった。
