本研究は、祭礼行事における外部化（担い手層の地域社会外部からの参入）およびその運営組織におけるアソシエーション化を把握することを通して、祭礼研究ならびに村落・地域社会研究に新たな視点を提示すること、および祭礼行事の保存に向けた新たな資源の可能性の析出を目的とするものである。具体的には、これまで地域社会の内部組織である区や町内会・自治会といったコミュニティに措定される社会集団によって運営され、地域住民である内部の人的資源を充てて営まれてきた祭礼行事における保存会や実行委員会といったアソシエーションへの移行と行事への地域外部からの担い手層の参入経路と地域社会の受容過程を捉えながら、地域社会が支えてきた祭礼行事の存続に向けたアソシエーション化の動きとコミュニティ振興の基礎的資源としての外部者の可能性とその課題を析出することを目的とするものである。2022度は、前年度に引き続き、①先行諸研究および報道事例等から祭礼行事における外部化およびアソシエーション化に関する学説史の整理および事例の収集、②国・県および市町村の指定・選択にかかる無形民俗文化財データベースの作成を継続して行い、祭礼行事の保存ならびに活用に資する基礎資料の構築を進めた。①に関しては、新聞記事から祭礼行事等の外部者の参入事例について事例の収集を行うべく進めたものの、コロナによる祭礼行事全般の中止が続き、新規事例の収集に至らなかった。②は、前年度に引き続き、指定・選択に係る無形民俗文化財データベース作成の作業を行った。また、若干、コロナ対応が緩和されたことによって、これまで実施できなかった調査活動も部分的に再開できた。コロナによって中断されてきた伝統的神社祭礼が、23年度から再開するにあたって、これまでの運営を変革し、実行委員会方式を模索している祭礼に対する予備的調査を実施した。
