项目摘要

本研究は既に延長期間に入っているが、コロナ禍の影響が長引き、国際学会の出席や資料収集を行うことは本年度もかなわず、海外の共同研究者とも予定通りには計画が進められなかった。一方、国内学会の参加や発表は少しづつ再開できる状況であった。国内の共同研究者との打ち合わせも対面で行い、欧米経済史のテキスト執筆は年度内に完成はしなかったものの、本年度に十分進展が見られ、来年度中には刊行を目指したい。また、海外資料や文献の購入を行いながらサウス・カロライナ植民地貿易の研究は継続した。主要研究対象である植民地の奴隷貿易と奴隷商人層の分析や鹿皮貿易、インディアン奴隷制については、それぞれ論考を予定していたが、本の出版計画が決定したため、本の構成の中で組み入れる形で考察を進めている。出版の準備として、学会報告や資料・文献の購入を行い、11月には大阪大学経済学研究科主催のワークショップ（オンラインの国際ワークショップ、Workshop in Economic and Business History, Graduate School of Economics, Osaka University）で植民地期の鹿皮貿易について、海外の研究者も多く集まる中で報告し、有益なコメントもいただけた(The Deerskin Trade of Colonial South Carolina, 1735-1775: From the Records of the Public Treasurer)。日本語で出版予定の植民地奴隷貿易と商人の研究に関しては、今後一部英語に翻訳して海外のジャーナルに投稿することを検討している。
