项目摘要

「三重県答志島の御木曳祭（式年遷宮）にみられる青年への伝統の継承に関する文化心理学的研究」という研究題目を継続中である。全国で唯一現存する青年宿（寝屋子）があり、かつては青年団活動も活発であった三重県鳥羽市答志島は、近年では青年の島外流出が著しい。20年に一度の御木曳祭（御多羅志神社の式年遷宮に伴うの祭）は2018年6月に開催されたが、ここ20年の間に祭の主役となる青年が減少したことによって、伝統の一部を修正しつつ祭を継承することを余儀なくされた。具体的には、20年後も祭を存続するという共通認識のもとで、これまで青年（団）が担っていた役割をその前後の年代が補っていた。また、祭当日には島外に住んでいる青年や師匠も帰省し、裏方を手伝ったり、大きな声で祭りを盛り上げており、島を離れても大切な祭りという認識は堅持されていた。2020年11月には、御木曳祭の時に運ばれたご神木を用いて建て替えられた新しい本殿への遷宮祭が行われた。コロナ禍の開催となったために、恒例の住民が歌い演じる舞台の出し物が中止となり、島外に住む人々の帰省も少なく、20年に一度開催されるいつもの遷宮祭とも手順や雰囲気も異なっていた。2022年度は、コロナ禍の影響で島内のさまざまな地域行事が中止・縮小となっていたが、8月には鳥羽市立図書館にて世代別漁業者人口の推移等を調査し、その結果に対する答志島の漁業者からのコメントや、島に残っている若手漁業者から聞き取り調査などを行った。その結果は、日本質的心理学会第19回大会や日本発達心理学会第34回大会にて発表した。しかし、その他に訪島して祭り等の参与観察ができなかったため、新型コロナ感染症が5類に移行する2023年度は、参与観察やインタビューなどの現地調査を行うとともに、学会発表を行いながら報告書をまとめる予定である。
