项目摘要

本研究の目的は、米国の大学における学生支援に関する多様な全米的な基準（以下、「全米基準」と略記）に着目し、どのような基準の内容が扱われており、また、それらの特徴は何かを検討することで米国の学生支援の評価、アセスメントのあり方を明らかにすることである。特に、こうした「全米基準」に焦点を当てることで制度的側面から検討することが可能となり、日本の大学における組織的な学生支援の実態や今後の体制構築にも一定の知見や実践的な示唆を見い出すことができたと考えている。本研究課題のうち、当該年度は、「①『活動プログラム』をめぐる『全米基準』の内容と特徴」の考察を深化させるため、「本研究の学術的背景」においても整理、言及していた全米学生支援に係る専門職団体のひとつであるACPA（American College Personnel Association）の正規の個人会員となることで、コロナ禍であっても日本国内でのオンラインを通じた関連情報の収集を行った。加えて、米国学生支援に係る文献調査も精力的に実施し、関連する情報を入手、検討することができた。具体的な知見として、米国学生支援では、デラウェア大学の学寮改革を契機として約15年前から「カリキュラム・アプローチ（Curricular Approach）」という新たな概念が創出されており、従来の伝統的なアプローチとは異なる転換が進んでいることが窺い知れた。さらに、学生の学習成果を促進することを志向した学生支援が米国で急速に拡大し、強化されている方向性が提示されている中で、この「カリキュラム・アプローチ」が実践にも普及していく可能性も示唆された。引き続き、学生支援の評価、アセスメント、そして改善に結びつけていくプロセスをいかに構築しているのか、このような新たなアプローチを模索する米国の動向を継続して検討していく予定である。
