発達性ディスレクシアは、文字の読みに困難を示すことから、読書活動を好まないと一般的には考えられている。しかし、発達性ディスレクシア児の中にも読書活動を好む児童がおり、読書活動の読み習得への貢献が期待される。本研究では、小学生の発達性ディスレクシア児とその保護者を対象に、読み検査、認知検査、読書活動に関する質問紙調査を実施し、発達性ディスレクシア児の読み習得度と語彙力、および読書活動との関連について明らかにすること、また発達性ディスレクシア児の読書習慣に影響する要因を明らかにすることを目的とした。まず、小学３、４年生の典型発達児とその保護者を対象とした過去の調査データを基に、本研究で使用する質問項目を作成した。研究協力施設の責任者にも内容について意見をもらい修正を行った上で、データ収集を行った。種々の読み物を読む頻度やどの程度読書を好んで行うかについてリッカート法で質問した。質問紙調査と並行して、子どもの読み検査（音読の正確さ、音読の速度、読解の検査）や語彙検査、認知検査（音韻認識、視覚的記憶、呼称速度）についても実施した。合計で14名のデータを収集した。発達性ディスレクシア児の読書頻度といくつかの読み検査や語彙検査成績との間に正の相関関係が認められたが、詳細については今後データ数を増やして検討する必要があると思われる。
