This research grant enabled me to support the research of several post-graduate and research students. I have started projects about gel soft robotic actuators which has stimulated new collaborations with the polymer chemistry and micro-engineering departments of kyoto university and resulted in several publications.I have also created projects about using bio-energy from MFCs to power embedded machine learning algorithms for water quality analysis to be used in chemotactic robots.The research has also included a new collaboration with heidelberg university department of neuroscience, looking at the use of haptic devices in neuro-therpay.
