本研究課題の目的は、基課題において執筆途中である"The Effects of Monetary Policy Shocks on Inequality in Japan"で得られた研究成果を発展させる形で金融政策と経済格差の関係性について定量分析を行うというものである。1980年代から1990年代後半にかけて、金融政策は勤労世帯の給与所得格差に影響を与えていた一方、その影響力は時間とともに弱まっている事が明らかになった。先行研究によると米国や英国では金融政策は、income composition channelを通じて所得格差を増大させ、それが消費格差拡大にもつながっている。しかし日本では給与格差にのみ影響を与えており、消費格差拡大にはつながっていないことから、政策的含意が大きく異なる。観察されたファクトを理論的に説明するため、賃金格差が説明できる企業の異質性(firm heterogeneity)を含んだ動学的一般均衡モデルを構築している。鍵となるのは労働市場のフレキシビリティと価格粘着性であり、金融政策ショックはセクター間の価格粘着性のち外を通じて賃金格差に影響を与える。研究成果の途中経過は2023年3月に渡英した際にケント大学で報告を行い、様々フィードバックを得た。加えて、アリゾナ大学・東京大学の市村英彦教授との共同研究として、国民移転会計(National Transfer Account)の考え方に基づく世代間の所得分配を考慮したライフサイクルモデルを構築し、日本における富の世代間分配とその移行過程について、政策評価のツールとなるモデルを構築している途中である。また、同時並行で行っている日本の所得・消費・資産格差の実証分析についてはデータブックとして英文の書籍化作業を行っている途中であり、その途中経過はDiscussion Paperの形で公表済みである。
