项目摘要

本研究では、歴史的に「売春カースト」とみなされてきたネパールのバディ・コミュニティにおける共同体再編を事例にとり、婚姻規範からの逸脱により究極に差異化、他者化されてきた人々が、国家における家族制度と多様性をめぐる政治の中で、どのように家族・親族ネットワークを形成し、夫婦・親子関係の社会的承認を求めていったのかを調査し、記述・分析することを目的としていた。本研究の3年目にあたる令和元年度は、ネパール、インドにおけるフィールドワークの継続と、これまでの調査結果に基づく成果公表および単著刊行のための準備に重点をおいた。フィールドワークでは、ネパールのバンケ郡で、1990年代以降の夫婦・親子関係の承認をめぐる実態調査を行い、共同体における大きな社会変容を経た現在、「家族」「結婚」の意味づけがどのように変化したのか、生活実態の観察を行った。また、インドのムンバイ近郊への移住が最も多かった親族ネットワークについての調査を行い、移住第二世代の若者たちの仕事と家族に関する認識の変化を記録した。文献調査では、カトマンズで、近代国家形成における民法の制度、婚姻制度にもとづく家族法に関する文献を収集し、諸社会集団ごとの慣習、女性や子どもの権利などが法律上どのように交渉されてきたのかを分析した。最終年度であったが、ネパールにおける周縁的なカーストが、国家の法制度に対してどのように家族・親族ネットワークを形成し、夫婦・親子関係の社会的承認を獲得していったのかを、個々の事例を追う調査によって明らかにすることができた。それにより、南アジアのジェンダーやカーストについて、政治経済や移動、社会運動との関わりに伴う家族の変動を描く民族誌の記述をすすめることができた。
