项目摘要

2019年度も引き続き、13世紀から15世紀ごろまで活躍したグラゾル・タテウ学派のアルメニア人学者たちの著作の写本調査と分析を進めると同時に、研究成果のとりまとめを行った。9月・10月の出張において、大阪の国立民族学博物館の中西コレクションに所蔵される日本唯一のアルメニア語写本分析と、エルサレムの聖ヤコブ・アルメニア修道院が所蔵する写本群の調査を実施した。その結果、国立民族博物館所蔵の写本の中に、グラゾル・タテウ学派を代表する神学者であるグリゴル・タテワツィとヨヴハンネス・オロトネツィの説教集の断片が含まれることが明らかになった。また、エルサレムの写本調査では、同じくヨヴハンネス・オロトネツィの主要な著作である『大地の動きについて』のテキストを含む写本が複数見つかった。写本調査の成果をふまえ、グラゾル・タテウ学派の宇宙論・自然観が、それ以前と比較してどのような特徴をもつかを検討した。その結果、グラゾル・タテウ学派において、自然学一般に関する知識は量・質ともに飛躍的な発展を遂げたことがわかった。その一方で、少なくとも13世紀に活躍したヨヴハンネス・エルズンカツィは、自然の成り立ちの中に三位一体や受肉といったキリスト教的神秘のアナロジーを見出すという中世アルメニアの学問的伝統を受け継いでいることも明らかになった。この研究結果は、英文論文として2020年末に刊行予定である。また、グラゾル・タテウ学派において最も重要な著作家であるグリゴル・タテワツィの著作の分析を中心として、本研究課題を総括する著作の執筆を進めてきた。そこにおいては、神の三一性やキリストの神人性を「語り得ざる神秘」として理性による把握の外においてきたアルメニア教会神学が、グリゴル・タテワツィ以来、「理性によって語り、理解しうること」を重視する方向へと転換していったことを明らかにする予定である。
