项目摘要

今年度は、文献史料を参考して、瓦に反映された中国中世の造瓦手工業と寺院造営工程の実態およびこれらに関連する北朝隋唐時代の社会的様相を探究した。以下の結論を出し、一部の成果を論文と口頭発表として発表した。文献記録により、北朝時代には、中国北部の草原地帯から南下した少数民族が漢族の居住地で政権を建てた。北魏は五徳終始説を基に、自らの徳運を水徳に、服色を黒色に改めることで、西晋の金徳を継ぎ、晋王朝の継承者を自任したのである。したがって、北魏孝文帝時代に創出された黒色磨研瓦は、五徳終始説から影響を受けた可能性がある。一方、大部分の北魏の皇帝は敬虔な仏教徒である。蓮の花のモチーフを瓦当文様に使用する点は、北魏時代の「国家仏教」政策の結果だと考えられる。北魏平城時代末期に創出された黒色磨研瓦と蓮華文瓦当は、政権の正統性構築の一環として北魏の統治者に利用されたのである。新たな様式の瓦は、洛陽、ギョウ城、長安など中世中国における巨大都市の造営工程で大量に使用された。この需要を満たすため、造瓦手工業では、製作技術と管理方法の変革が行われた。例えば、瓦当製作技術は木笵技術から子母笵技術へ変化し、瓦生産の主体が世襲の職人から、徭役が課された平民に移行した。技術と生産管理の向上により、北朝晩期と隋唐時代における都市の造営工程において、黒色磨研瓦と蓮華文瓦当を広く使用することが可能となった。その結果、瓦は政治的意味を持つ象徴物から一般の建築材料へと変化した。唐代晩期に至ると、瓦の作りは粗雑になり、工人の銘文に基づく物勒工名の制度も工房ごとの生産管理に取って代わられた。本研究では北朝隋唐時代の皇室寺院に使用された瓦を整理・分析し、瓦の様式、生産・使用状況およびそれらの変化を検討した。そして、それらの分析結果を基礎として、寺院の造営工程とその背景となる社会的様相についても考察を加えた。
