项目摘要

本課題の基盤的テーマである「新即物主義」という局所的な視点から、音楽の現実性や大衆性への意識が共有された戦間期の社会・技術的要因へと焦点を拡大し、論文執筆及び学会等での研究発表を行なった。特に「音楽の機械化」という枠組みで括られ得る1925年以降の独語圏を中心とする音楽雑誌上の議論を検証対象とした。その際、自動楽器の使用による生身の演奏者の排除という究極的な形での音楽の「客観化（＝機械化）」を端緒の一つとする、蓄音機やラジオ等の音響メディアの急速な普及が音楽芸術に及ぼした価値転換について、創作／聴取美学の両観点からいかに論じられていたかを整理した。音楽の「真正性」や「作者性」が戦間期にいかなる変化を被ったかという問題をアクチュアルなものとして捉える上で、科学技術社会論をはじめとするメディア研究の方法論が有効となった。戦間期の音楽評論の場では、軽音楽が促した新たな趣味や音響技術的要件に適応し得る音楽語法の見直し、聴取の様態の時間・空間的な変化による作品概念の現代化が様々なレベルで問題化されていたことが判明した。作曲家と批評家の双方の立場から追究された音楽とテクノロジーの理想的結合が、客観性や実用性、実質性に対する価値の高まりを喚起し、同時代の音楽が時代精神としての新即物主義を具現化するに至ったと考えられる。また、戦間期に共有されていた「機械的なモノ」への想像力を検証するため、音楽の機械技術的な再生産が新即物主義の解釈と評価に寄与した過程を明確化し、そのリズム的特徴に着目した。聴取の様態が、特定の時代と地域に根ざしたサウンドスケープによって形成されるという考え方に依拠した上で、大量生産技術を擁する巨大工場での労働環境、交通機関の発展による生活圏の拡大と日常的騒音等の社会・技術的状況が、その中で共有されたリズムと象徴の連合を通じて「機械的なモノ」への聴取の開かれを促したと言える。
