英文摘要
The purpose of this study is to clarify the ventilatory effect of percutaneous electrical as well as magnetic stimulation of phrenic nerve and to investigate the possibility of clinical application as an artificial ventilator. The ventilatory effects were evaluated mainly by tidal volume and transdiaphragmatic pressure. The optimum values for electrically stimulating frequency and pulse width to produce the maximum tidal volume were 50-150Hz and 0.5-1m sec. respectively. The same ventilatory effects could also be painlessly generated by the percutaneous magnetic stimulation as well. The very small sized flowmeter could be fabricated and have the similar characteristics to conventional ones. The further research on the biological influences to the other nerves except phrenic nerve at neck in the case of longterm percutaneous magnetic stimulation should be necessary to study.
