The purpose of this research is to realize a superconductiong receiver system in millimeter and submillimeter wave region, where all elements of the system are superconducting devices. The obtained results are as follows:1) Elements of the receiver system, i.e., a mixer, a local oscillator and an IF amplifier, are developed. For the mixer, we use the SIS mixer, whose fabrication technique is established with Nb/Pb Josephson junctions. A novel local oscillator is devised. The output power of the oscillator is about 1 <micro> W in the frequency range from 50 to 500 GHz, which is large enough for the local oscillator of the SIS mixer. The IF amplifier with new operation principle is also developed.2) For the construction of the system, an efficient coupling method between the mixer and the oscillator is developed. With this method, they are integrated, and the performance of the integrated circuit is studied experimentally.3) Performance of the present system is studied experimentally, and is evaluated. Future development for the multichannel system is also discussed.
