本研究は，テレワーク等の多様な働き方が普及した社会において，通勤や業務コミュニケーションに関わる変化と望ましいコミュニケーション水準を達成するための交通政策的知見を得ることを目的として理論モデル分析と数値分析を行う．上述の目的の達成のために，研究テーマ全体をサブテーマA「社会ネットワークとコミュニケーション手段分担を考慮した交流活動水準選択モデル」，サブテーマB「立地選択を内生化した枠組みへの拡張」，サブテーマC「集積の経済を考慮した立地均衡モデルの構築・解析」の3つに分け，初年度である2021年度にサブテーマAを，2022-2023年度にサブテーマBとCを並行して実施する計画であったが，研究代表者が産前産後休業および育児休業取得のために，サブテーマAの成果発表やサブテーマB,Cの推進を2022年度途中で中断せざるを得なくなった．2022年度には，2021年度に実施したサブテーマAの研究成果を取りまとめ，サブテーマB・サブテーマCを推進する上で必要な情報収集と専門研究者との議論等を行っている．2023年度に復職後は速やかに続きを再開し，理論モデルの拡張と数値分析を推進するとともに，学会等での研究成果の発表に努める．一方で，COVID-19感染症の感染症法上の取り扱いが2023年5月に「新型インフルエンザ等感染症（いわゆる２類相当）」から5類感染症へと移行することを受けて原則出社に戻す企業も見られる等，テレワーク等の働き方を取り巻く情勢に変化が現れつつあることを踏まえて，研究成果の取りまとめの方針を再検討する．
