Next to tumor cell-intrinsic factors, extrinsic factors play a role in radioresistance, tumor relapse and metastasis. Therefore, we will determine the influence of the tumor microenvironment on the radioresistance and investigate tumor relapse and metastasis after radiation therapy in different PDAC mouse models. Therapeutic targets will be identified and targeted by genetic and pharmacological approaches in combination with radiotherapy. These targeted therapy concepts should provide the basis for novel multimodal clinical treatment approaches.
