本研究においては、本学倫理委員会に計画書を提出し、研究の実施の許可を得て、患者向けの情報公開文書を開示した後に研究を開始した（軟骨無形成症の小児における大後頭孔狭窄の観察研究、東北大学大学院 医学系研究科倫理委員会 2021-1-674号）。2022年においては、前年度に引き続き、2002年4月以降に東北大学病院小児科の受診歴があり、診断時の年齢が20歳以下であった全ての軟骨無形成症患者を抽出し、年齢、性別、身長、体重、頭囲、身体所見、神経症状、呼吸器症状、症状出現時期、頭部MRI検査施行時期、頸延髄圧迫所見の出現時期、圧迫所見の程度、外科的介入の有無と時期、FGFR3遺伝子解析結果、などの情報を、匿名化した上で収集し、患者データベースを作成した。前年度に収集したデータに加え、小児の発達のマイルストーンである頚定、寝返り、坐位の獲得時期についても改めて情報を収集した。経過中に軟骨無形成症以外の診断となった患者、頭部MRI画像が確認できない患者、および本研究の参加について同意しない旨の意思を示した患者を対象から除外し、現在までに26人の軟骨無形成症患者のデータベース化が終了した。今後は、新規患者についての情報収集を行い、データベースの更新を継続するとともに、大後頭孔狭窄による重篤な合併症を回避するための最適な頭部MRI検査の初回施行時期、およびその後繰り返し検査を行う際の間隔についての解析を行う予定である。さらに、重篤な合併症を呈し手術に至る症例において、適切な時期での手術介入を行うために、発達の程度を含めた神経学的症状、呼吸症状、画像上の脊髄圧迫の程度、それぞれの出現時期などについて解析を行い、大後頭孔狭窄により重篤な合併症を来たすリスク因子を同定したい。
