The jawbones from the mice alveolar bone defect models were examined by Micro-CT scanning and histological analysis to assess new bone formation in the defect area at 4 and 8 weeks after implantation. The results of 3D image analysis and Hematoxylin and Eosin staining demonstrated that implanted MCOB-3DPL constructs have successfully regenerated bone within bone defects and is significantly higher than the other groups at 8 weeks post-implantation. Nanoindentation analysis has shown that regenerated bone induced by MCOB-3DPL constructs has micromechanical properties comparable to the native bone. The results of implant therapy by Micro-CT and histological analysis revealed that regenerated bone formed by MCOB-3DPL constructs possesses osseointegration ability.
