口唇口蓋裂治療における口唇形成術の治療成績評価は形態的評価が圧倒的に多く、哺乳に関する機能的評価に関する報告は少ない。口唇裂を有する乳児は患側上唇部口輪筋の断裂と筋線維の走行異常をきたす。そのため健側と患側の筋活動量に差があるだけでなく。口輪筋活動に不調和が生じていることが哺乳障害の一因となっている可能性がある。本研究では積分値移動曲線を用いることで、哺乳運動中の口輪筋の筋活動量や活動ピークがわかるだけでなく、健側と患側における筋活動の不調和の有無と程度の評価が行える。また口輪筋活動が視覚的に明瞭化されるため、医学的知識のない者にも治療前後の辺kさをよりわかりやすく提示することができる。これは口唇口蓋裂児を養育する家族への育児支援にも繋がる可能性がある。藤田医科大学病院口唇講義あ裂センターに通院中の片側完全唇顎口蓋裂児および片側完全唇顎裂児を対象に、口唇形成直前（入院日）、術後1か月、術後6か月における、哺乳床を装着した状態での哺乳運動中の健側および患側の口輪筋の表面筋電図を計測し積分値移動曲線および比率（％）を用いて筋活動量の比較を行った。積分値移動曲線は健側と患側の曲線をそれぞれ重ね合わせることで、術前の協調運動障害の有無と程度の評価を行い、また術後における協調運動の獲得についても評価を行った。その結果、患側は健側より筋活動量が少なく、協調運動は崩壊している状態であったが、術後は経時的に患側の筋活動量は健側へとキャッチアップしており、協調運動もみられるようになった。また健側の筋活動量を100％とした場合の患側の筋活動量は、術前においては全例健側の50％を下回っていたが、術後6か月までには平均して75％程度にまでキャッチアップしていることがわかった。
