项目摘要

本研究課題は、日本・台湾・インドネシアを対象に、アジアの共通文化である樹木信仰の場の存続要因を、管理運営の仕組み、空間整備状況、公的支援の状況といった点から調査し比較することで、持続的な地域社会に資する樹木信仰の場の今後のマネジメント手法を明らかにすることを目的としている。当初計画では、台湾およびインドネシアにおけるフィールド調査を早期に実施する予定であったが、コロナ禍のため、2021年度に引き続き2022年度も予定していた海外調査を実施することができなかった。そのため2022年度は、2021年度に大阪市内で実施した「路傍樹の存続状況と公的保全の課題」についての調査研究の成果を書籍として共同執筆する活動に従事した。路傍樹とは、区画整理により、寺社や民家の敷地から道路上にはみ出して位置するようになった樹木のことで、残されてきた理由には、地域住民の信仰対象になってきた背景がある。書籍では、20年前の先行研究で明らかにされた大阪市内の23ヶ所の路傍樹の残存状況、利用・管理状況、生育状況に加え、単独の樹木を保全する公的制度である「保存樹」制度の路傍樹への適用の可能性について言及した。なお、台湾の信仰対象の樹木である大樹公についても同書籍で紹介した。また、コロナ禍の状況が改善しつつあることから、2023年度に台湾およびインドネシアでフィールド調査を実施するため、現地の研究協力者と具体的な調査計画の立案を開始した。
