本研究では農畜産業を人類の生活に必要な資材を生産する産業であると同時に、地域文化の視覚的投影であるという認識の元、明治期以降日本に導入された西洋農法を基盤とした歴史的農畜産業施設および、戦後の観光・レクリエーションの大衆化を背景に開設された農畜産業施設を研究対象とし、施設周辺地域も含む土地利用変遷によって醸成されてきた景観価値を明らかにしていく事を目的としている。2022年度は以下の調査・取り組みを実施した。（1）実地調査の実施明治期に開設され現在まで経営が続いている歴史的農畜産業施設の事例として、①群馬県下仁田町神津牧場の実地調査を行い、牧場敷地内の構成要素（畜舎などの生産施設、境界木などの植栽配置、土地利用など）の確認、山岳型酪農業としての立地特性を把握し、歴史的農畜産業施設の活用実態について知見を得た。次に②栃木県那須塩原市那須千本松牧場の実地調査を行い、牧場敷地内の構成要素（放牧施設、飼育動物種、境界木などの植栽配置、無料施設と有料施設の区分、飲食施設、土地利用、場内に現存する歴史的建造物など）を確認し、地域の歴史的な疏水事業を素地とした牧場の歴史的経緯も含め、観光牧場施設としてのサイトプランについて知見を得た。また、戦後の観光・レクリエーションの大衆化を背景に開設された事例として、③群馬県渋川市伊香保グリーン牧場の現地調査を実施した。1970年に観光牧場として開設され、50年以上経過した敷地内の構成要素（放牧施設、境界木などの植栽配置、無料施設と有料施設の区分、飲食施設、土地利用など）を確認し、傾斜地としての立地特性を活かした牧場内サーキュレーションや眺望性も含め、観光牧場施設としてのサイトプランについて知見を得た。（2）那須野が原博物館での所蔵資料の閲覧および撮影作業の実施那須野が原博物館所蔵の絵地図および文献資料について閲覧および撮影作業を実施した。
