本研究は、日本の伝統的な音楽種目が、異文化を伝達した仲介者により、どのように記述されてきたのかを検証し、ドイツ語圏における日本音楽受容の一端を明らかにするものである。特に、比較音楽学が萌芽したドイツ語圏の文献を収集・分析することで、19世紀から20世紀にかけて、日本音楽の受容が遷移していく過程を考察する。これにより、民族音楽学としての学問的な成立過程に日本音楽がどのように関係したのか、また、異文化接触の場で形成された日本音楽表象の解明への展開を目指している。初年度は、2022年9月に渡独し、ケルン在住の日本音楽研究者ハインツ=ディータ・レーゼ（Heinz-Dieter Reese）氏の協力の下、集中的な資料収集を実施した。レーゼ氏の自宅書庫に保管された日本音楽に関する膨大なドイツ語文献にアプローチできたことは、本研究における重要な足掛かりとなった。それらの文献は、レーゼ氏が1970年代にケルン大学に在籍していた頃から収集されたものであり、民族音楽学を専攻するドイツ語圏の学生が、その一分野としての日本音楽に如何に精通していくか、という過程を辿ることができる資料であるとも言える。今回の文献調査においては、柘植元一により1986年に刊行された『日本音楽論著解題目録』[Tsuge 1986 Japanese Music : An Annotated Bibliography. New York: Garland Pub.]に掲載された154点のドイツ語文献を参考にしているが、この目録に含まれていないものも既に多数見つかっている。また、この目録は1983年末までの文献を対象としているため、それ以降に書かれた文献も視野に入れ、今後調査範囲を拡大させていく。

This study describes the differences between Japanese traditional music varieties and foreign cultures, and describes the differences between Japanese and foreign languages. The bibliography of this article is published in late 1983, and the scope of future investigation is expanded.
