本研究は、近年、日本でも大きく展開されているデジタル・ヒューマニティーズ（人文情報学）の知見に基づき音楽学分野の研究実践を試みるものである。西洋音楽における響きのあり方を情報学的分析によって得られるデータから捉え直すことを構想する本研究課題では、具体例として、16世紀から17世紀の英国で作曲された音楽作品を対象とし、コンピュータによる音楽解析を利活用することにより、西洋音楽における「調」の感覚が長調・短調の二つに収斂する過程の一端が解明されることを目指す。2022年度は、以下の三点に重点を置いて取り組んだ。第１にデジタル・ヒューマニティーズに関する最新の先行研究からの情報収集を行なった。第２に本研究課題で用いる予定のMusic21がプログラミング言語 Python による音楽情報ライブラリであることから、Python の習得に向け、Google Colaboratory を用いて、プログラムを書くための学習を実施した。Music21 では、楽譜をMIDI情報に変換する。そのため、第３に分析対象の楽譜のMIDI情報への変換方法を中心に、楽譜作成ソフトに搭載されたスキャン機能の利用と不足情報の入力作業の効率化の検討を行なった。プログラミング言語の専門的なスキルの習得には、多大な時間と労力が必要であるが、デジタル・ヒューマニティーズの最新状況についての知識を深め、Music 21 による実際の分析の下準備が進められたことは、非常に有意義であった。
