本研究は、正典とされる聖書に記述のない聖母の晩年の出来事について記されている偽書について調査し、その内容と絵画の対応関係を調査・分析するものである。本年はこれら偽書の内容の整理を中心的に行なった。９言語63点の偽書の示す物語の結末は、「聖母の魂の被昇天」、「魂を取り戻した状態での肉身被昇天」、「魂を取り戻さない状態での肉身被昇天（魂と肉体が別々に被昇天し、天国で融合した）」の3種類に分類される。まず、この3種類の分類を起点とした上で、それぞれの分類における結末以外の物語内容を整理し、各分類における物語類型の数と種類を把握した。その結果、「聖母の魂の被昇天」を結末とするものは、点数としては少なく、また内容として聖母の体が被昇天したか否かについての明言を避ける傾向があること、「魂を取り戻した状態での肉身被昇天」と「魂を取り戻さない状態での肉身被昇天」を結末とするものは、点数として多いことがわかった。さらにビザンツの教父の中には「魂を取り戻さない状態での肉身被昇天」を支持する者も一定数以上、いたことがわかった。これは、イコノクラスム以降のビザンツ圏において、「聖母の魂の被昇天」が専ら描かれるようになったことと矛盾するものであり、その理由を詳しく探る価値があるだろう。また個別の偽書のテキストとエジプト、ワディ・エル・ナトルーンの壁画、ローマのサンタ・マリア・マッジョーレ聖堂モザイク、アッシジのサン・フランチェスコ聖堂上堂内陣壁画、ドゥッチョによるシエナ大聖堂のための祭壇画《マエスタ》との関連性について調査し、一定程度その関係性を明らかにすることができた。その成果の一部は執筆中の単著『聖母の晩年ー中世・ルネサンス期イタリアにおける図像の系譜』（名古屋大学出版会）に収めたが、同著は科学研究費（研究成果公開促進費：学術図書）を得て、今年度中に刊行予定である。
