项目摘要

研究の初年度にあたる2022年度は、「研究実施計画」に記したように、資料収集と資料の読み込みを中心に行った。資料収集としては、研究開始当初はバルザックの著作と研究文献を主な対象としていたが、資料の読み込みを進めるなかで、研究題目としている「バルザック『谷間の百合』と1830年代フランスの出版文化」、特に後半部分の「1830年代フランスの出版文化」を文学との関係において捉えるためには、19世紀フランスの出版文化のなかでバルザックと近い位置にいたその他の作家（サンド、ネルヴァルなど）の著作と研究文献にも目を向ける必要があることが判明したため、資料収集の範囲を広げることとなった。また、19世紀フランスの出版文化を歴史的な視点から理解するために、フランスおよびヨーロッパの歴史、文化史に関する著作の収集を行なった。さらに、本研究の主対象としている「バルザック『谷間の百合』」の作品理解のためには、創作のコンセプトから主人公の人物設定、そして物語の構成までを基礎づけている「花」のモチーフ・詩学を理解することが不可欠であることが判明したため、聖書からフランス近現代文学まで、「花と文学」に関する資料収集を開始することになった。上記の活動と並行して、「バルザック『谷間の百合』」と「1830年代フランスの出版文化」を直接的に結びつけている重要な文献として、バルザックが『谷間の百合』の各版に付した「序文」に相当するテクストの翻訳を行い、科学研究費研究成果として公表した（「バルザック『谷間の百合』「序文」（I）（II）（III）」、『明治大学教養論集』564、567、569号）。研究成果の公表にあたっては、これまで未邦訳であった「『谷間の百合』が引き起こした訴訟の記録」の全文を訳出しただけでなく、解題や詳細な注を付すことで、本研究の意義や重要性がわかりやすく伝わるよう努めた。
