本研究は、形式的な形態統語理論を用いて、日本語複合語の構造と派生メカニズムの解明を目的としている。本年度は【右側要素に動詞を持つ二種類の複合述語】（V-V型：抜き取る；X-V型：横取りする）について形態統語的分析の開発を行った。この二種類の動詞的複合述語はいずれも右側要素に動詞を持っているのにもかかわらず、品詞的振る舞いと連濁の可否において異なる振る舞いを示す。V-V型は「動詞」として振る舞い（つまり、直接時制辞などの動詞的要素が後続できる）、かつ、連濁は起こらない（例：ぬきどるにはならない）のに対して、X-V型は「動名詞」として振舞うために「する」の介在を必要とし（例：横取りする/*横取る）、連濁が起こる（例：よこどり）。この振る舞いの違いを説明するために、V-V型は前項要素が独立して書き出し(Spell-Out)される一方（Piggott&Travis 2013）、X-V型は前項・後項が同時に書き出しされる（Hardarson 2021）という仮説を提案した。さらに、独立して、「する」はVoiceの非該当形であるという仮説と連濁は複合語の構成要素が同じ書き出し領域 (Spell-Out Domain)にある（つまり、局所的な）場合に起こるという仮説を仮定することで、これらの振る舞いの違いが正しく予測されることを示した。さらに、本提案の理論的帰結として、等位接続における前項の省略の可否（食い止めるか止めないか vs. *口止めするか止めしないか）についても正しく予測できることが導かれた。
