2022年度は新型コロナウイルス感染症の拡大状況の影響が残り、予定していた対象者へのインタビュー調査が延期されるなど、当初計画よりもやや遅れた進捗状況となっている。しかしながら、次年度以降の調整はすでに完了し、今後はインタビュー調査も実施できる予定である。結果的に2022年度は、以下で記すように、インタビュー調査の準備としての文献調査等の作業が中心となった。本研究では、（1） 法務教官の実践に関係する制度・社会的条件を明らかにするための資料調査、（2） 法務教官へのインタビュー調査、（3）専門職論や職業的社会化論を中心とする理論研究という3つの課題に取り組むことで、法務教官の専門性とは何かを解明することを目指す。2022年度は上述したように（2）法務教官へのインタビュー調査については十分に実施することができなかったものの、複数の元法務教官を対象にした聞き取り調査を実施することができた。さらに、法務省の矯正研修所を参観調査するとともに、法務教官の研修を担当する教官らから日々の研修活動等についての聞き取りを行うことができた。（1）に関しては、『刑政』等の専門誌掲載記事、『矯正教育関係者によって生きられた矯正教育史：昭和52年の矯正局長依命通達を中心とする聞き取り調査史料集』（岩田一正ほか編、2017年）等の資料、『苦しみと喜びと：矯正職員処遇体験記』等の関連書籍を収集・整理する作業を行なった。（3）に関しては、主として国内における専門職研究（前田 2023、白旗 2011、橋本 2008など）をレビューする作業を行ない、同時に、理論的検討を行なった。
