転移性肝腫瘍に対するラジオ波焼灼術において、その治療効果を向上させるために肝動脈塞栓を併用することがある。本研究では、その際にどのような塞栓物質が有効であるかを評価するために計画した。令和4年度は、動物実験の実施に向けての情報収集および必要物品の購入などの準備に努めた。滋賀医科大学の動物実験施設において動物実験の実施を予定しているため、同施設における動物実験実施のための講習を受講後に試験を受け、実験実施の許可を得た。また、実験を実施するために必要な物品および動物の数についても計算し確認を得た。しかしながら、コロナ禍の影響で塞栓物質として有効と考えられる微小デンプン球（Embocept S）の国内輸入が遅れており、また研究代表者が令和5年4月より米国マサチューセッツ大学に留学することとなったため、動物実験は実施できていない。研究代表者は1年間の留学予定であるため、その間に塞栓物質の確保および準備を行う予定である。帰国し次第、再度滋賀医科大学の動物実験施設と再度連携し、動物実験の実施および結果の解析を行い、学会発表や論文作成を行っていく予定である。
