本研究は、アルコール摂取と歯科疾患・口腔健康状態との関連について明らかにすることを目的としている。大規模、経時的かつ詳細な健診データを使用し、アルコール摂取の長期的影響、性差・地域差による影響、影響の過程や交絡因子について明らかにする。本研究結果は、口腔健康状態の安定化はもとより、全身の健康にも寄与するものであると考える。令和4年度は、新潟県で実施されたベースライン調査について、40歳以上の地域住民25,216名を対象とし分析をおこなった。先行研究では、アルコール摂取による口腔内や全身の健康への影響について、アルコール摂取状況や摂取量の推定が明確に分類されていないものが多かった。本研究では、アルコール摂取状況と摂取量の推定を明確におこなった。アルコールの摂取状況は、「非飲酒者／過去飲酒者／現在飲酒者」の３つのカテゴリーに分類した。また、現在飲酒者は、1週間あたりのエタノール摂取から週150g未満／週150～299g／週300～449g／週450g以上の4つのカテゴリーに分類した。また、口腔健康状態の指標は現在歯数とした。その結果、アルコール摂取状況および1週間の摂取量と現在歯数は関連がみられ、その関連には性差がみられた。また、令和4年度は、新潟県で実施された5年後調査や異なる地域でのベースライン調査のデータについて、アルコール摂取状況および1週間の摂取量と歯の喪失に関連する因子についても分析を始めた。
