本研究は、近年の観光産業で重要性が増しているSNSやSNSの口コミ情報（eWOM）等の影響について定量的な分析を行いうことである。そして、「SNSやeWOMによる観光地の評価は、観光地の評価を適切に反映し得るものか（相関関係があるか）」を明らかにすることである。京都市にはSNS上で人気が高い、多数の寺社仏閣や観光スポットが存在する。そのため、それら寺社仏閣や観光スポットを中心とした門前町や商店街が形成されたエリアが多数存在している。当初、こうしたエリアの中から、比較的データの入手が容易で研究対象として適したエリアの選定を検討した。しかし、サンプルサイズの問題もあって、本年度は京都市の一部地域にとどまらず、京都府全域を対象としてデータ収集に努めた。収集したデータは2種類であり、まず1つ目は公示地価データを収集した。上で述べたようなサンプルサイズの問題から京都府内全域の公示地価のデータを収集した。2つ目は観光地の評価指標となるデータを収集した。観光地の評価指標としてトリップアドバイザーやgoogle、またはtwitterやFacebook等の様々なデータを検討した。今回、観光客が観光旅行をするための利便性という観点から、多くの利用が考えられるトリップアドバイザーのデータに注目して収集に努めた。こうして収集した2種類のデータは、地域情報をものに結合して1つのデータベースを構築した。当初はArcGIS等のソフトウェアを用いて距離データも考慮して結合も検討したが、公示地価として公開されている地下データと観光地のデータとに距離的な親密性がそれほどないことが分かったため、町名での結合を行った。作成したデータベースはSTATAによる統計分析を行い、地価と観光地の評価との間にある程度の関係性が考えられることが分かった。また、次年度に向けての家計調査の計画を開始した。
