本研究の目的はスポーツイベント経営を成功させるマーケティング要因を明らかにすることである。平成12年度では、いくつかの要因なかでもプロダクト要因が重要であり、そのプロダクトの質の向上を戦略的に目指していくプロデュースが最も重要な戦略であることが理論的に導かれた。スポーツプロデュース論において、人々のスポーツとの関わりは、本人が主体的に価値創造していく人間的成長の過程と考えられ、その手法は地域内で自発的発信される情報をコントロールすることであることがわかった。13年度はプロデュース論をさらに深め、スポーツに対し受動的な関わりと捉えられがちな、みるスポーツにおいても人々が主体的な関わりを目指したプロデュース論を展開し実証することをねらった。加えて成功しているプロスポーツチームの経営が地域密着を目指していることに着目し、地域住民がみるスポーツとしてプロスポーツを観戦する場合を念頭に置いて考察した。結果、観戦者は、スポーツ観戦を通じて、JリーグやIOCといったスポーツ組織が考えるスポーツ価値とは別に、観戦によって独自の意味解釈をし、主体的に彼らなりに価値づけていることがわかった。しかもそれは、社会的に認められる善良な価値ばかりでなく、大衆的価値である場合が多い。それは日常生活とつながりのある自分なりの解釈を行うということであり、自分なりの価値を見いだすことで主体性の感覚や自尊心を確立していると理解できる。一方、マーケターが経営活動を正当化するために主張するマーケター側の価値(Jリーグ百年構想やオリンピック運動)と、観戦者が主体的に意味解釈する価値とのギャップ構造を説明し、政治的にどのように施策を考えればよいかを議論しなければならなくなった。この関わりを促すためのプロデュースとは、地域内の情報流通を促し、その情報の質を上げるためのサポートに主眼を置かれるべきだと結論づけられる。
