项目摘要

土曜日の教育活動推進プロジェクトをはじめとし, 学校の外で子どもたちに有意義な教育環境を提供する取り組みの進展にともない, 指導者となる地域人材の確保が課題となっている. 本研究では, 科学技術をテーマとした教室でその指導にあたる科学ボランティアの育成と, 実践の場で使用する教材の開発を行った.教材開発にあたっては, 山口県内で学童保育クラブを中心に15会場で小学生516名を対象として出前科学教室を実施し, 同時に質問紙による調査を行った. 教室のテーマには, 空気, 水, 音, 電気など, 小学校の科目に関連する基礎的な事象で, 授業の中では体験できない本格的な実験を盛り込んだ複数のタイトルを用意した, 理解度確認のための調査では, 学年を問わず回答のあったすべての児童が, その日の教室でのテーマのポイントとなるキーワードを正確に理解しており, 使用した教材の教育効果の有効性が確認できた.一方, 地域に眠る有能な人材を発掘し育成するため, 下関市内で一般から募集した受講生(20代～60代, 11名)を対象に, 科学教室での指導に必要な技能の習得を目標とした連続講座を実施した, 講座は, 科学コミュニケーションの理論に関する講義から実際の教材を使った演示実習まで, 実践的な内容で構成した, 講座の最終回では, 同地域で開催された総合科学祭に受講生グループで運営する科学工作のブースを出展した, 修了生の一部は, その後も地域で実施した科学教室に講師やアシスタントとして自発的に参加するまでに至っており, 本研究での人材育成の取り組みが目に見える成果として表れている, なお, 開発した教材一式は貸出可能な形態として整備した.
