项目摘要

大学教員の研究力を高めるため、URAに必要な能力やURAの最適配置について、URAや米国のリサーチ・アドミニストレーター(RA)の事例を参考にしつつ調査研究を行った。URA調査では、リサーチ・アドミニストレーター協議会年次大会に出席し、参加大学のURAと意見交換を行った。また、東京大学、金沢大学、京都大学、関西大学、広島大学の5大学を訪問し、各大学のURA等と意見交換を行った。URAの能力における特記事項として、関西大学では広告業界やウェブデザイン業界等ノンアカデミック出身のURAが研究広報をサポートしていること、奈良先端科学技術大学院大学では同大学で博士号を取得後に外資系企業で海外事務所の設置等に従事したURAが大学の海外事務所開設に深く関与していたことが挙げられた。配置における特記事項として、東京大学は部局URAを重視していること、東京大学、金沢大学、関西大学、広島大学は事務職員と同じオフィス内にURAを配置し事務職員との交流を意識していることが挙げられた。アメリカのRA調査では、スタンフォード大学のRAと意見交換を行った。また、アメリカのRA向けの研修会”Basics of Research Administration meeting”に参加し、RAのキャリアパスやバックグラウンドについて参加者と意見交換を行った。RAは日本の大学における研究担当事務職員もしくは研究室秘書のような位置づけであり、日本のURAのような業務は外部コンサルタントやリサーチ・アソシエイト(いわゆるポスドク)が担っているとのことであった。日米での調査結果を踏まえた上で、研究代表者が日常業務でかかわっている九州大学の理学系教員及び数理学系教員125人へ支援を受けたい内容についての質問票調査を行ったところ、その結果から今後は支援内容についての因子分析を行っていく必要があることが明らかとなった。
