平成26年度に実施された全国学力学習状況調査によれば, 小学校算数科では基礎的・基本的な問題に比べ, 応用力を問う問題の正答率が極めて低い。応用力の代表的な問題として, 文章題が挙げられる。文章題を解くことが苦手な児童は多く, 児童にとって文章題をイメージ化して図解することは難しい。現在の教科書やデジタル教科書は, 文章題に対して数直線図等で表されている場合が多い。しかし, 数直線図等を見ても解けない児童も存在する。もし, 児童が与えられた情報から必要な値を見つけ出し, 場面の状況や問題の条件をイメージ化するための手立てを工夫し, そこに自分や仲間の考え方を書き加えることができれば, 文章題を解く力が育成できるのではないかと考えた。そこで, 文章題に関係するイラストや数直線図等の挿絵にアニメーション機能を活用し, 段階的に数量関係を表す図(以下, 数量関係図)に変化していく教材を作成し, そこにスタイラスペン(本申請品)で自分や仲間の考え方を記入し, 記入したものを保存させていった。初めに、小学校算数科第6学年を対象に文章題アニメーション教材を作成し、自分の力にあったアニメーションから文章題を解いたり, 繰り返し見たりする実践を行った。子どもたちはスタイラスペンを活用することで, 画面上に自分や仲間の考え方を書き込んだり, 友達に説明したりする姿が見られた。また、子どもたちは本教材に加点方式が取り入れられていることから、授業だけでなく、休み時間等も活用し、何度も繰り返し挑戦する姿が見られた。その後、対象児童に事後テストと意識調査を行い, 文章題アニメーション教材に対してスタイラスペンを活用した授業が, 文章題を解く力にどのような効果をもたらすのか検証を行った。その結果, 題意を捉え, 自分や仲間の考え方を記録し, 振り返ることで, 文章題を解くことに自信をもち、他の文章題に対しても苦手意識が少なくなり、解く力の育成につながった。
