1. 研究目的 : 鏃・矢の復元製作・射出実験から鏃・矢の機能を想定する。2. 研究方法 :(1) 鏃の作成 鉄鏃は、機能的に異なると想定される鏃を実測図から復元し、柳葉鏃・長頸鏃・平根鏃や鹿角装具との組み合わせで、鳴鏑鏃及び鏑鏃の計11個製作した。製作は、鋸鍛冶中屋滝次郎氏に依頼して、鉄素材から鍛造して作り上げた。銅鏃は、当初の鋳造製作から、型の製作の困難さ、製作代金の関係から、鍛造製作とした。銅の素材を購入し、柳葉銅鏃大・小の鏃を計6個制作した。製作は、美術工芸家の平出豊氏に依頼した。鹿角装具の製作は、鳴鏑は、浅間神社西側横穴出土資料、鏑は金井東裏遺跡出土の資料の実測図から計3個製作した。製作は、美術工芸家赤塚昌俊氏に依頼した。鹿角素材は猟師から入手した。(2) 矢の製作 箆竹の矢は高価であるため、購入及び製作依頼を断念し、矢射出実験を依頼した小笠原流群馬支部岐弓館道場所有の昔の箆竹矢を譲り受け、計13本の矢を、銅・鉄鏃に合わせて、削るなどして装着した。(3) 射出実験 和弓は、15kgほどの弱い弓で、口元近く一定の所まで引き込み、同じ力で射た。発砲スチロール板を26cmほどの厚さに張り合わせたものを射出地点から16mの距離に置いて、突き刺さった矢の深さを比較した。3. 研究成果 : 大型で重い鏃は深く突き刺さり、小型細身の鏃の刺さりも良い。大型幅広の鏃については、少し貫徹力が劣る。鳴鏑は小さいながら確かに鳴り、同じ鹿角製でも穿孔の無い鏑は鳴らないことも確認できた。鏃の形・重さにより貫徹力の違いがあり、機能差を意識しての鏃の製作を行っていると想定できるが、予想よりも形態差などによる貫徹力の差はなかった。祭儀用と想定していた鏃も機能的には同じように貫徹力を持つので、形態から見た実戦・祭儀用の判断を機能実験の結果から補強するのは難しいことが分かった。また、鏃・矢の製作に関わり、矢・鏃製作工程の理解が進んだ。
