博物館における標本活動のボランティアはあまり広がっておらず、そのシステムの構築も乏しい。本研究では標本ボランティアの人材育成におけるシステム開発とその教育プログラムの検証を試みた。研究方法は活動に必要な知識調査を行い。その後、作成した標本活動用のテキストを用いて、教育プログラムを実施した。教育プログラムはボランティア活動と博物館標本に関して2講座(計4時間)、標本作成と登録の実技講習(計8時間)からなる。プログラムの受講終了後には筆記試験とアンケート調査により、知識の習得状況やプログラムの意識調査を行った。また、ボランティア活動を3カ月以上行った後には、再試験とアンケート調査を実施して知識の定着度を確認した。教育プログラムは受講者5名において実施した。事前の基礎的な知識試験では正解率が約37.5%であった。その後、講座の受講後におこなった試験では、試験の難易度が上がったものの正解率が62.3%となった。プログラムに伴うアンケートでは5段階評価において、講座が平均2.6ポイントで「やや難しい」、実技講習では平均1.4ポイントで「難しい」という結果であった。受講者の意識的な状況と理解度を知ることができた。同様にボランティア活動への意欲や具体的な不安要素も確認し、「自身の活動における日程調整」「標本の作成・計測作業」に不安な意見が聞かれた。また、3カ月以上活動を行った4名の再試験では、正解率が71.4%になった。前回よりも正解率は向上しており、知識の定着が確認された。本教育プログラムは、標本活動のボランティアで必要な知識や技術の習得を行うことができる内容であった。また、このプログラムを含めたシステムは、受講者の各分野での知識や技術の習得状況を詳細に知ることができる。それと共にボランティア活動で重要な意欲や意識においても、フォローできる機能を有していた。
